For more than three decades, the shakuhachi has been my companion in the study of sound, breath, silence, and harmony. As a craftsman, performer, teacher, Cultural Transmitter, and Transformational Educator, I continue to explore what becomes possible when breath is transformed into sound.
Whether you have arrived here as a student taking your first steps, a lifelong practitioner, a teacher, performer, collector, listener, or simply a curious visitor, I invite you to explore a tradition that has accompanied me for more than thirty years.
The shakuhachi is often described as a Japanese bamboo flute. Yet for many practitioners throughout history, it has represented something far deeper: a path of listening, self-cultivation, and personal discovery.
Whether one is encountering the instrument for the first time or returning to it after decades of practice, its capacity to reveal new lessons remains unchanged.
Through performance, teaching, and instrument making, my aim is not only to preserve this tradition, but also to create opportunities for practitioners at every stage of the journey, from those discovering the shakuhachi for the first time to those seeking a lifelong companion for continued exploration.
